Workshop Highlights:
This workshop focuses on Flight Simulation Training Device (FSTD) selection, maintenance, management of device, facility and logistics, as well as recommended accreditation levels for technical support personnel to maintain the devices. The workshop will be an opportunity for those already maintaining FSTDs and those expanding into military fl ight training devices to understand the complexities and challenges of maintaining FSTDs.

The leaders of this workshop have been in simulation maintenance for 30 years. Their experience in FSTD management will provide invaluable insights on device selection, long term reliability with a focus on cost control.
If you or your organisation requires independent and specialist advice on FSTD selection and management, then this interactive workshop will be the ideal environment to ask the diffi cult questions.

Matthew Heron Director of Operations Flight Simulation Engineering & Technician Association
Matthew has been in the aviation and fl ight simulation industry since January 1992, in both military and civilian maintenance operations. After completing an Associate Diploma in Electronic Engineering and a Radio Technician course with the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) in 1991, he worked his way up to the Teon the F/A-18 Operational Flight Trainer at both Williamtown and Tindal Air Bases in Australia.
After completing an avionics systems technician course in 1997 and graduating as sergeant, he went on to become the avionics systems technician for 33SQN B707 (air-to-air refueling) aircraft maintenance at Richmond Air Base. Matthew participated in various military tours around the world as the avionics independent inspector on deployed aircraft before retiring from the RAAF in January 1999.
Throughout his career he has performed the roles of technical instructor, software controller, device caretaker, visual specialist, and project manager on fl ight simulator acceptance and relocation projects. He has also been involved with the CAA, FAA and JAA in initial and recurrent qualifi cations of both FFS and IPT devices.
Antonio Pineda Director of Accreditations Flight Simulation Engineering & Technician Association
Antonio graduated with a BSc Electrical Engineering from the Polytechnic University in Malaga, Spain. After working in the IT Sector at Mannesmann Kienzle Data Systems for 3 years, he moved to Mallorca, Spain, and was employed as a fl ight simulation engineer with British Caledonia in 1990. During that period he received intensive training from the simulator manufacturer Rediffusion and the visual vendor Evans and Sutherland.
In 1993, Antonio relocated to Doha, Qatar, for four years, and worked in the training center at Gulf Air. He continued his simulator training with Thomson. In 1998, he joined Emirates Airlines where he has been employed for ten years, initially as a fl ight simulator engineer and currently as a senior engineer fl ight simulator. In 2008, Antonio completed a M.Sc in Air Transport Management.
Throughout his career Antonio has taken on the roles of simulation course instructor, software controller, device caretaker, visual specialist, visual modeler and project engineer for simulator acceptance and relocation projects. He has also been involved with the CAA and FAA in many initial and recurrent certifi cations of FFS. He has initiated and setup different training centers with the necessary logistics and operating procedures.
